Goodbye 'Millennial Gray' – Kris Jenner Taps Into The 'Boomer Brown' Trend Designers Prefer For 2026

Kris Jenner is known for her agelessness - not just in her appearance, but also in her approach to design. The socialite's Hidden Hills home is a modern farmhouse masterpiece with elements of organic luxury woven throughout. Though it feels timeless, she integrates splashes of current trends to keep it interesting.

We caught a stunning example in the background of a recent Instagram post from Kris featuring a dark wooden bookcase lined with antique books. At one time, people may have called the design too traditional, but now, decorators are saying its gorgeous brown color is replacing gray. They're calling it 'boomer brown.'

Charlotte Ford, interiors expert at Ruggable, explains the interior design trend, stating: 'Boomer brown is a term used to describe the reintroduction of wood and more traditional styles in the home. This reintroduction of brown comes at a time when more people are looking to vintage and antique pieces to decorate their homes rather than buying new, modern furniture in muted tones of gray.'

So, what's the best way to decorate with brown timelessly, as Kris has done? experts say it comes down to how it is arranged. 'Brown wood needs to be thoughtfully styled to make an impact in the home - and the best way to do that is through accessories,' Charlotte advises.

She echoes the lesson in Kris's space, explaining: 'One way to style your brown wood furniture is with books. Whether that’s colorful coffee table books or wooden shelves filled with your favorite classics, books bring a sense of your personality to the home and are also great for bringing the vintage feel that the millennial brown trend warrants.'

Luckily, there are a seemingly endless list of items you can use to decorate your home beautifully with brown. As seen in Kris's living room, a tall narrow wooden bookcase (like this one from Wayfair) is a great place to start. Here are some of our editors' picks of the best brown furnishings on the market.

Perhaps you aren't the bookish type; that doesn't mean you can't beautifully style browns and dark woods in your home.

Charlotte suggests decorating with antiques and vintage pieces. She states: 'Styling your home is unique to you, so adding touches that reflect your personality are always going to bring out the best of whatever trend you choose to follow. Traditional rugs are great for bringing that vintage feel into your space, and there are so many available on the market that are an eclectic mix of old and new.'

Warmth, texture, and beauty will always be in style, and rich browns perfectly embody these attributes. The highly versatile look is the perfect way to enliven your interiors this autumn.
