Good news of the week: Sir Paul McCartney's lost guitar and London Zoo’s baby gorilla

Two London institutions, the London Zoo and Shakespeare’s Globe, have brought smiles to Londoners’ faces this week, with adorable animal-related news. Additionally, London’s party animals will be pleased to hear the latest development in Printworks news.

Sunday night saw a major victory for the Kansas City Chiefs at the NFL Super Bowl. All eyes were on tight-end Travis Kelce, who celebrated the win with his superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift. 

The ultimate power couple celebrated the win at a Las Vegas nightclub, with Swift’s parents in attendance. They were also seen adorably singing and dancing to Swift’s early hit, Love Story. Cute!

Printworks to reopen in 2026

One of London’s most iconic nightclubs, Printworks, is set to reopen in 2026, after closing last year, much to the dismay of London’s revellers. 

The building, which was once where the Evening Standard was printed, was set for demolition before it was transformed into a nightclub in 2017. Now, developers will transform Printworks into a space for cultural events and offices. 

London Zoo welcomes baby gorilla

London Zoo announced this week that it has welcomed yet another baby gorilla, in a major win for the zoo’s endangered species breeding programme.

A western lowland gorilla named Effie gave birth on February 8, less than a month after Mjukuu had a baby. The pair is now set to grow up “side by side,” as each other’s “permanent playmate”.

Sir Paul McCartney reunited with his guitar

Sir Paul McCartney has been reunited with his bass guitar, which went missing in 1972.

The Beatles star, who used the guitar on hits like Twist and Shout and She Loves You, is said to be “incredibly grateful” for the people involved in finding the guitar.

Ryan Gosling, America Ferrara, and Kate McKinnon delighted Barbie fans by reprising their roles for an Oscars trailer

In the new trailer, they helped Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel find his way to the ceremony. Barbie is nominated for best picture, while Gosling and Ferrera are nominated in supporting categories.

Shakespeare’s Globe dogs go viral

Shakespeare’s Globe is enjoying a viral moment on TikTok, thanks to its adorable dog duo.

Heidi and Bella are winning hearts with their adorable ruffs in a series of cute and comic videos on TikTok, where one fan called it “the best content that has ever existed on the internet”.

Sir Elton John fans are thrilled by reports that the Rocket Man singer is rumoured to be working on a new album.

The music icon, 76, performed his final gig in Sweden last July. But, if the reports turn out to be true, we could be getting new Elton John music later this year.
