Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway praised for 'honest' Christmas dinner confession

Kate Garraway has come in for praise from Good Morning Britain viewers for her 'honest' confession about Christmas dinner is likely to go in her house this weekend.

Popular presenter Kate and her family have had an incredibly tough few years, after her husband Derek Draper was struck down by Covid right at the start of the pandemic and then put into a medically induced coma, as lockdown restrictions meant that Kate and the couple's children Billy and Darcey were unable to see him for months.

Thankfully Derek came through the other end and was finally allowed to return home in the spring of 2021, although he has suffered numerous health scares in the last 18 months, ending up back in hospital numerous times.

Earlier this week, Kate took to Instagram to reveal that she'd struggled to get a Christmas tree this year, with good willed members of the public coming to her rescue. And on Friday's GMB, Kate admitted that things could be quite chaotic in her house on Christmas Day.

Right at the start of the three hour live broadcast, Kate and co-host Ben Shephard were talking about Christmas dinner and TV cook N Nigella Lawson's advice to 'ditch the starter' and not over indulge.

Ben looked upset at that suggestion and it was then that Kate spoke about how Christmas dinner was likely to pan out for her and her family on Sunday, kicking off with a 'breakfast of Quality Street.'

She continued: "Then have the starter around lunchtime, because you know, I'm doing Christmas lunch this year, that actually Christmas lunch is going to be about 5.30! So you have the starter, but you have it as lunch! A little bit of melon."

Kate then added: "A little bit of something, keep them going....it's on it's way! Look the starters have arrived everyone and it's 1 o'clock, little do they know the turkey's not there until 5!".
