The programme was follower by an ITV news special programme ITV News: The Proclamation of the King along with continuous news coverage until 12.30pm. Friday's Good Morning Britain was made up of a special tribute schedule to the late Queen.

Susanna introduced the show by saying: "A nation is in mourning as Britain's longest reigning monarch Queen Elizabeth II passes away at the age of 96, after 70 years on the throne." As Ben said: "Her son King Charles III, said the loss of his beloved mother is a moment of great sadness for him and his family and that it will be deeply felt around the world."

Susanna added: "Her Majesty's death comes after the most significant periods of her reign in which she rallied the nation during the coronavirus pandemic, lost her beloved Prince Phillip and celebrated her Platinum Jubilee year." Ben followed: "Such was her unparallel devotion to her duties, she personally welcomed the 15th Prime Minister of her reign just days before she died."

Her Majesty's funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey with the date still yet to be confirmed. There is expected to be around 2,000 heads of state, dignitaries, presidents, European royals, and other key figures invited to Westminster Abbey.

King Charles III, formerly known as Prince Charles automatically became the King when his mother passed away.
