Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley surprises Ranvir Singh with 'crooner' singing voice

Presenter Richard Madeley surprised his colleagues and viewers as he briefly showed off his “crooner” singing voice on Good Morning Britain.

It came on Tuesday morning's edition of the ITV show as Richard and co-host Ranvir Singh previewed what was coming up later in the instalment.

On the billing was an interview with television presenter Jonathan Ross, who has recently been a panellist on hit shows The Masked Singer and The Masked Dancer.

As reported by the Mirror, Richard then asked Ranvir: “Would you go on Masked Singer? Would you do that or Masked Dancer?”

Ranvir laughed: “Well, I can’t sing, for a start. I can dance a bit but not very well in a big old costume.”

However, the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant then said: “I heard you singing in the corridor this morning.”

Richard then confirmed: “Oh I sing all the time. It cheers me up.”

He then went on to begin protesting that he would not sing on the show.

“No no no no no no, as and when the appropriate moment comes,” he added.

Ranvir then asked for the song You Were Made For Me.

Richard then delivered a line of the song briefly in his singing voice.

Ranvir Singh doubted she would do well on The Masked Singer or The Masked Dancer (ITV)

“See, there’s a little hint there,” said Ranvir.

Panellist Andrew Pierce praised Richard’s voice, with Ranvir saying: “The crooner, isn’t he?”

Along with panellist and Daily Mirror Associate Editor Kevin Maguire, the four went on to discuss the day's headlines, including Prime Minister Boris Johnson's disparaging remarks about recycling plastic.

Mr Johnson said: "Recycling isn't the answer. Recycling...it doesn't begin to address the problem."

The Prime Minister added: "You can only recycle plastic a couple of times really. What you have got to do is stop the production of plastic, stop the first use of plastic.

"The recycling thing is a red herring."
