Good Morning Britain Charlotte Hawkins' gruelling wake up time as she shares hectic routine

Good Morning Britain's Charlotte Hawkins has lifted the lid on her busy schedule.

The 47-year-old broadcaster has been a key figure on the ITV news programme since she joined the show in 2014. Charlotte's day starts earlier than most as she has to be at ITV studios before the programme begins at 6am.

The anchor provided an insight into her morning routine and shared how she is able to break the news at the crack of dawn. She told the ECHO: "I get up at 2.45 in the morning. It's quite an early alarm call, I have to say. I have a little bit of time to wake up in the morning to go through the papers and go through whatever is going to be in the programme.

"We have an amazing hair and makeup team, luckily, so they do a great job at making us look awake for 6am and then copious amounts of tea and coffee to get us through the morning."

The presenter passionately explained how the buzz of working on live television also helps with the early wake up. She said: "I love the fact that on Good Morning Britain we get to tell people the news first.

"People wake up, switch the TV on, they are wearing their pyjamas wondering what's going on in the world. I feel in such a privileged position to be able to say to people 'you'll never have guessed what's going on, let me tell you all about it'.

"I love it. No two days are the same." Charlotte heaped praise on her co-stars as she shared what makes Good Morning Britain stand out. She said: "It's a bit more of a conversation, a bit more opinionated.

"People will be yelling at the TV whether they agree or disagree with us. But we want to wake people up in the morning and give them the kind of show that's interesting to watch."

Charlotte spoke to the ECHO at Aintree Racecourse when she was wearing an exclusive Coast dress at Ladies Day. She heaped praise on the city and revealed why Merseyside is so special. She said: "I always love coming up here. We always have such an amazing welcome."
