- Essa Suleiman, 45, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article following the stabbing of two Jewish men in Golders Green, north London, on Wednesday.
- The victims, Shloime Rand, 34, and Moshe Ben Baila (named locally as Moshe Shine), 76, were taken to hospital; Mr Rand has been discharged, while Mr Shine remains in a stable condition.
- Suleiman, originally from Somalia, also faces an attempted murder charge for a separate incident in Southwark earlier on Wednesday and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
- He was previously reported to the Government’s anti-extremism programme, Prevent, in 2020, but the case was closed the same year.
- The UK's terrorism threat level has been raised to "severe", meaning an attack is "highly likely", though the Home Office stated this decision is not solely due to the Golders Green incident.
