Gogglebox star Sandra Martin's sister-in-law dies of coronavirus

Gogglebox star Sandra Martin has revealed her sister-in-law has died of coronavirus.

The former telly regular, 58, shared the sad news on Twitter, writing: "AM CRYING. MY BROTHER WIFE JUST DIED OF CORONAVIRUS. R.I.P MY SISTER IN LAW."

Sandra appeared on the Channel 4 show from 2013 until 2017.

She didn't give any more details about the loss of her relative, who was married to her brother.

Fans flocked to her Twitter page to offer their condolences after the tragedy.

One wrote: "I am so sorry for your loss Sandra. My prayers and condolences to you, your family and loved ones at this difficult time. May she rest in perfect peace. Amen."

Another added: "So sorry for your loss it's heartbreaking."

A third wrote: "I'm so sorry to hear that Sandra. Sending love and hugs."

The tragedy came hours after Sandra shared a video of herself joining in last night's Clap For Carers in honour of NHS staff working hard to battle the virus.

She simply wrote: "Clapping for NHS" and added in the video: "Well I was outside clapping, I was outside just now, clapping for the NHS.

"Watching it live now on TV - yeah let's all of us clap together. But yeah!"

Thousands of Brits took to the streets last night for the clap, with many leaning out of windows and beeping car horns to show their support up and down the country.

The Royal Family even got involved, with Kensington Palace posting a video on Instagram of Charlotte, George and Louis all applauding.

Kensington Royal tweeted: "To all the doctors, nurses, carers, GPs, pharmacists, volunteers and other NHS staff working tirelessly to help those affected by #COVID19: thank you."
