Gogglebox's Mary demands apology from husband Giles over off screen fail

Gogglebox couple Giles and Mary gave viewers another slice of TV gold on Friday night, when Mary demanded an apology from her husband over something he'd done wrong off screen.

Having been part of the furniture on the Channel 4 show for years now, Giles and Mary can always be relied to give Gogglebox fans something to talk about every time they appear from their living room to deliver their verdict on all manner of TV shows. The couple have even landed in hot water a few times over the past few series, due to their rather outspoken views on topical issues and current affairs.

But on this week's programme it was all about Giles being in Mary's bad books for something that had nothing to do with Gogglebox at all. As narrator Craig Cash took viewers to join the pair from their Wiltshire home, George could be heard asking: "You'll be going to Waitrose less and less now Mary with the cost of living crisis?" She abruptly replied: "I said to you yesterday to get a big bag of flour so we could make our own bread. Did you get it?

With the couple still not yet visible on screen, Giles insisted: "We've still got some," Mary fired back: "We've only got one packet! One packet isn't enough." Continuing to try and appease his wife, Giles told her: "We can make bread rolls."

Still not happy, Mary asked: "Why didn't you get the big bag I asked you to get from Lidl? Why can't you just admit you've done something wrong occasionally? Why can't you just say sorry Mar I forgot?"

Giles finally relented, sheepishly telling her: "Sorry Mary, I forgot," as a content looking Mary responded: "It's alright, I forgive you."

After their little tiff, Giles and Mary went onto give their verdict, along with their co-stars, including Pete and Sophie, on much talked about ITV drama The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe, with Giles quipping: "Let him finish his breakfast," as the police said they'd be calling round, just as he was hiding in a bedsit whilst being missing presumed dead.
