Gogglebox fans and stars of the hit show have all been left disgusted by one of the latest TikTok trends. Butter boards - the latest answer to the cheeseboard - has been sweeping the social media platform.
But stars of the hit Channel 4 TV show, which sees families reacting to the latest programmes, have been left abhorred by the trend. With Lee Riley commenting on the current spike in price for butter.
Initiated by a New York-based influencer, the butter board sees the dairy product spread on a board. It then has anything from herbs to chilli flakes scattered on top.
Gogglebox stars were left confused by the trend when watching author Juliet Sears producing a butter board on TV. She explained the board can then be used as an appetizer or at a social gathering.
Amira said: "Butter boards, I don't get it, it's butter." While Amani said: "It's such a bored housewife thing."
While Danielle said: "I don't think we need a tutorial, I could pretty much do it from a picture." However some of the cast were more impressed with Sid Siddiqui commenting about the creative element as Sears swirled the butter on the board, he said: "I suppose you could make any shape couldn't you?"
To which son Basset quipped: "You're getting into this aren't you? You're thinking about your next TikTok video aren't you?"
Fans of the popular show took to social media to share their confusion at the trend. @Rosie12_1994 said: "What is the point of that really? Bit of a stupid idea...a butter board. Not exactly good for you either."
@Lyneerin said: "#Gogglebox what did I just witness? Butter on a board?"
@Shrimspy291 added: "That butter board. 1. What a waste of expensive butter 2. Nothing you can put on it would not make it sickly."
