Gogglebox family quit Channel 4 show after three series due to work commitments

The Baggs family have quit Gogglebox after three series on the hit show.

The family from Essex, who first appeared on the Channel 4 show in 2020, have decided to end their run as TV critics due to work commitments.

Dad Terry, mum Lisa and sons Joe and George issued a joint statement, teasing future projects, to announce their departure from the hit show.

The statement reads: "After 3 incredible seasons on Channel 4’s Gogglebox we have taken the decision to leave the show. We have loved every second of being part of the Gogglebox family and it’s truly been the opportunity of a lifetime.

"With lots of exciting opportunities approaching for us all, we just couldn’t commit to filming another series, but are so grateful for the opportunity."

The family have been a hit with Channel 4 viewers since they first graced the small screen together back in 2020.

"the baggs family have left gogglebox.. pain," one gutted fan took to Twitter to share as the news of their departure began to break.

Following their shock announcement, Gogglebox co-star Ellie Warner was one of the star's to wish the family luck with their new ventures.

"All the best to you guys," the Leeds lass told her soon-to-be former co-stars.

Ellie made a surprise return on Gogglebox earlier this month, after several weeks away from the hit show following her partner Nat Eddleston being involving in accident that left him with life-threatening injuries in March.

Just hours before Gogglebox aired on May 13, Ellie broke her social media silence to confirm she would be back on our screens after two months away.

Within minutes of the show airing at 9pm, Ellie and her sister Izzi were reunited on the sofa - discussing Nat's desire to marry and whether he understands what a shotgun wedding means.

After discussing Nat's plans for a 'shotgun' wedding with her sister Izzi, Ellie then went on to call her boyfriend - putting him on loud speaker as she joked with her partner seemingly not knowing a shotgun wedding means the bride is pregnant.

Ellie's TV comeback comes after Nat was reportedly knocked down by a white car shortly after midnight on a Friday night in March, after meeting friends for drinks at a pub in the Halton area of the city.

It is believed that he was struck by a white Seat Leon just after midnight.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed the road in Halton, Leeds, was cordoned off the following morning.

Prior to Ellie's return this evening, it had been previously been reported that Ellie would not be making a return to Gogglebox anytime soon, as she stayed by the bedside of her partner.

Thankfully, Nat is on the road to recovery and has even been snapped running errands in their local area.

Ellie and Izzi have appeared on the award-winning production alongside her sister Izzi since they joined the Gogglebox family in 2015.
