Goan firm delivers first nose cone for Vande Bharat train

Panaji: Goa-based Kineco Limited, a composite part manufacturer has supplied the first composite front structure for the Vande Bharat semi-high speed trains being built for the Indian Railway.

Kineco has been awarded with a contract to supply 68 nose cones for the Vande Bharat trains and the nose cone has to be supplied to the Integral Coach Factory at Chennai.

Kineco founder and managing director Shekhar Sardessai said that his company will be launching a range of products for high speed trains in the global market at the InnoTrans 2022 Expo in Berlin in September.

“I am proud to announce that these products are benchmarked to global standards of quality, reliability and safety and have been developed by our in-house research at the development centre in Pilerne, which is led by global experts of train technologies,” Sardessai said.

The Centre has announced a plan to build and operate 400 semi-high speed ‘Vande Bharat’ trains that are self-propelled, capable of reaching speeds of 200kmph, and thus reduce the turnaround time.

Kineco’s railway division is manufacturing the nose cones at its rail manufacturing facility at Pilerne Industrial Estate. The firm has been supplying composite components to the Indian Railways for over 15 years.

Kineco rail division chief operating officer Ravi Shrivastava said that while some of the components of the nose cone were being imported, they are now developed for the very first time in India.
