PANAJI: Anjuna police on Wednesday arrested Desmond Alvares, 62, following a complaint of alleged attempt to murder of a Vagator resident.
The resident of Assagao assaulted Aslam Merchant, 40, of Ozran, Vagator with a koita over a petty dispute about plucking of flowers, police said.
Sub-divisional police officer, Mapusa, Jivba Dalvi said that on May 30, around 3.30pm, the accused assaulted the complainant. Merchant was left with bleeding injuries on the head and leg.
Anjuna police inspector Prashal Dessai and PSI Tejaskumar Naik have arrested the accused and obtained three days police remand from the court, Dalvi said.
