PANAJI: Health minister Vishwajit Rane has said that the government is looking at increasing the strength of Goa’s health and wellness sector. “We have received a sanction for 100 new community health officers that we will be recruiting,” he said.
He also said that plans are also afoot to set up a new private medical college or a government medical college in the state, for which he has sought an appointment with the Niti Ayog centre in Delhi. “We have a vision to take medical services to the doorstep of the people and have the best healthcare system in place,” the health minister said.
Speaking on teleconsultation and telemedicine, he said that these can be taken to a different level in Goa.
“Health and wellness centres have grown all over the country and every state has ensured that healthcare is taken to the doorstep of the common man. This includes telemedicine which can be done online,” Rane said. “This is the way forward for a healthy India.”
He said that through various medical foundations and institutions, breast cancer screenings have been conducted across the state. He also said that high risk pregnancies are being thoroughly monitored and there is coordination between the mothers and healthcare centres.
“We are not only trying to bring free inulin, but also attempting to reduce the intake of insulin by giving proper advice to patients,” he said.
