GMB viewers stunned as illusionist makes Kate Garraway disappear live on air

Good Morning Britain viewers were left stunned after illusionist Darcy Oake made presenter Kate Garraway 'disappear' live on air.

The Canadian illusionist, who appeared on Britain's Got Talent in 2014, appeared on the show with a large black box placed on a table.

Speaking to Ben Shephard before the trick, a worried Kate admitted  she had no idea where should vanish to.

She said: "Well, I don't know that. No one has actually explained where I go to.

"All I know is that I have to get into a box and that's it. Darcy will do the magic."

The presenter also got nervous as she climbed into the box, saying: "Oh God, this is going to be a problem from the start, me getting into the box."

Darcy then 'locked' Kate into the box, while reminding viewers the show was live and wouldn't be cut.

The illusionist then opened the box before flattening it on the table, leaving viewers pondering over where Kate has vanished to.

One said: "That was actually quite impressive."

Another wrote: "How on earth did he do that?! @DarcyOake wow!!! #GMB."

"Wow @DarcyOake I hope @kategarraway is ok #GMB," said a concerned viewer.

"Where did she go?" asked another fan.

But some viewers were left underwhelmed with the trick, with one saying: "Pity you could see the trap door when he collapsed the box."

Another said: "Darcy Oake is a fantastic illusionist, but sorry, that's the worst illusion you could ever do in front of a tiny audience (studio) and without all the flamboyance."

"Poorly executed, the trap door was very visible when the box went down. I know we all know how it's done anyway but there's always that hope that you watch an illusion and go 'ooh that was good', as opposed to 'ooh there's the trap door'" criticised another viewer.

"Yeah, nice trap door and mirror!" said another.

Darcy Oake will be touring the UK from 21 March until 31 March. For tickets please visit https://darcyoake.com/live/
