GMB's Susanna Reid forced to stop as she breaks down in tearful moment

Susanna Reid was forced to stop mid-sentence as she broke down in a tearful moment.

During a discussion with Piers Morgan and Dr Hilary Jones about why it's taken so long to implement rapid-result Covid tests so people can visit loved ones in care homes, Susanna became emotional as she read out one mum's plight of not being able to visit her autistic son.

Susanna began reading the Facebook comment, saying: "And Hilary, it’s not just the elderly that we’ve mentioned.

"Susanne on Facebook says ‘My son is severely autistic, he lives in a care home, he is distraught he can’t see me-'".

Susanna then took a deep breath before becoming extremely choked up, forcing her to lurch forward.

She attempted to continue before saying 'sorry' as she could no longer read out the message.

Dr Hilary jumped in and said: "It is very distressing.

"And we know these children with learning disabilities have higher mortality from coronavirus than other children of the same age

“So your grief your pain is shared by so many who want to see their children.”

Susanna then tearfully added: "I can’t, I can’t, he’s 26."

Piers then added he could totally understand why Susanna became upset, as he picked up the emotional contents of the message.
