GMB's Alex Beresford gives urgent warning over vaccine no-shows

Alex Beresford has issued an urgent warning to people who do not turn up for their coronavirus vaccine.

The Good Morning Britain weatherman posted the stern rebuke on Twitter after "witnessing more than one person" not attending their appointment to receive the jab.

Beresford, 40, said there was "still a lot of vaccine hesitancy" and that no-shows were causing a "real waste of jabs".

The tweet by the Bristol man said: "When you’re invited to take the vaccine, you should take it right? Yesterday I witnessed more than one person’s name called out who didn’t show up for their appointment.

"That’s a real waste of jabs for those who want to take it. There’s still a lot of vaccine hesitancy."

The post has received hundreds of comments and sparked debate amongst Twitter users.

One commentator wrote: "I’ve seen tweets saying they will book but have no intention of turning up and having the vaccine. What is the mentality of these people?"

Another asked: "Why take the vaccine if we still have to wear masks, socially distance ourselves, can't fly out and have to take it repeatedly?"

While another said: "Hopefully the Vaccines won’t be wasted. I’m sure that they have procedures to ensure that unused vaccines are kept to a minimum.

"It is however a waste of time and resources. It is a concern if these people have done this on purpose, in the hope that it will hinder the process."

Alex Beresford famously clashed with Piers Morgan earlier this month over the host's comments about Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah.

Morgan went on to resign from Good Morning Britain, and received a record number of complaints to Ofcom. As he packed up his office yesterday, he revealed he would be leaving one thing behind.
