GMB's Adil Ray supported by fans as he hits back at vile comments he received

Good Morning Britain host Adil Ray has received the support of fans after revealing vile comments he received from some viewers.

The 46-year-old has been stepping into the main presenting role during various holiday and breaks for the last year or so - but has made more of a regular appearance in recent weeks alongside Kate Garraway and Susanna Reid.

After finishing his presenting role for the week on GMB on Wednesday's edition of the show, Adil took to Twitter to address some of the messages he has been receiving.

"This week on Twitter I’ve been called a lefty liberal, a true tory, a race-baiter, anti-English, too Muslim and not Muslim enough,’ he shared.

"Phew! Back on your box next Monday @gmb for the next instalment," Adil added, not letting the comments get the better of him.

"Thank you so much for giving us your time and watching. I’m loving every minute."

But the tweet has prompted a lot of support for Adil.

"You’re doing great Adil, see you next week," wrote one.

Another said: "I love you being on GMB. Let them moan they obviously have nothing better to do."

"I think you’re sound if that’s any help. Love watching you on the telly you always come across really well," a third praised.

A fourth added: "Well you can’t please them all. I think you’ve been brilliant on gmb, looking forward to seeing you back on there next week."

However others were still sending negative responses.

"Can I add very boring and abit fake," said one to which Adil replied: "Sure. Why are you responding to something that bores you? Have a lovely exciting, riveting week x."

"Not sure anyone is watching Adil, I heard ratings very low after Piers went," another said with Adil responding: "Let me know when you’re sure."
