GMB's Adil Ray in disbelief as Tory MP fails to fully back PM Liz Truss

Adil Ray was in disbelief on Good Morning Britain today.

He and his co-host Susanna Reid grilled Tory MP, Danny Kruger, on his thoughts of the current Prime Minister Liz Truss. This week she has come under fire for repeatedly u-turning on her policies and many of her own party are now failing to back her, despite her only being in the job for 43 days.

Adil asked the MP: "Is Liz Truss the most competent, credible, skilful leader in your party right now and the right person to lead you through the things that you have been spelling out over the last seven minutes?"

He added: "Is she the best that you have? Because let's be honest it needs to be the best of your party leading you right now, the very best, the outstanding one. Is that Liz Truss?"

Mr Kruger replied: "It's a difficult question. I don't know who the best person is." Adil said: "Well I'll take that as a no then."

The MP added: "I can't give you... it's not a talent show. What you're asking is if there should be a change and that's an enormously significant thing to undertake.

"We've just been through an election, I'm not sure we wish to put that on the country again. It's not a question of who the best Prime Minister it's, it's do we want to go through that again."

The presenters argued back, but the MP still failed to give a straight answer and the interview eventually wrapped up. After they said goodbye to Mr Kruger, Adil said: "I think it's absolutely extraordinary that a conservative party MP can not tell the public that 'yes, Liz Truss is the best person for the job'.

"That's all you would expect at least if you think 'yes, she or he is the best person to lead the country right now'. He couldn't tell us that. I think that's extraordinary."
