GMB becomes most complained-about show with Piers Morgan's Meghan rant

Good Morning Britain has become the most-complained about TV show of all time after more than 41,000 people complained to Ofcom about Piers Morgan's rant about Meghan Markle.

Piers quit the ITV show on Tuesday after storming off the set when challenged by Alex Beresford over his hatred of Meghan, and was branded "diabolical".

The controversial host said he did not believe Meghan's claims during her Oprah interview that she felt suicidal while pregnant with baby Archie, who she shares with husband Prince Harry.

Uswitch confirmed almost a third (32.5%) of complaints submitted to Ofcom are about ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

The research revealed that a total of 174,814 Ofcom complaints have been raised during the last five years, with Good Morning Britain accounting for 32.5% of that figure (56,849) which included the 41,000 raised on Tuesday.

It has emerged that a formal complaint was lodged with ITV on behalf of the Duchess over Piers' marks.

Announcing the resignation, ITV said: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

"ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."

Piers' dismissal of Meghan's account of her mental health battle, led to him coming under fire from mental health charity Mind.

He belittled the couple's allegation that a member of the royal family questioned how dark their baby son's skin would be before he was born.

Piers has since doubled down on his claims, saying: "I believe in freedom of speech, I believe in the right to be allowed to have an opinion.

"If people want to believe Meghan Markle, that's entirely their right.

"I don't believe almost anything that comes out of her mouth and I think the damage she's done to the British monarchy and to the Queen at a time when Prince Philip is lying in hospital is enormous and frankly contemptible.

"If I have to fall on my sword for expressing an honestly held opinion about Meghan Markle and that diatribe of bilge that she came out with in that interview, so be it."
