GM Steve Keim both encouraged and discouraged by Cardinals’ play

The Arizona Cardinals, after nine games, are 3-5-1. It isn’t exactly what many had hoped but they have made progress. General manager Steve Keim isn’t completely pleased but he isn’t upset with the first half of the season. He is both discouraged and encouraged by the Cardinals’ season thus far.

“I’m discouraged because of the record, and I’m discouraged because I obviously expect more for our fans for our organization because that’s our mindset,” he said on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM on Friday. “But I am encouraged by a number of things I’m seeing.”

He cited the way the offense is moving the football. He also is encouraged by the development of Kliff Kingsbury as a playcaller. He said he is glad about how multiple young players are developing and performing.

His sentiments about the team are likely shared by many. While the Cardinals aren’t really competing for the postseason, there is a lot to be optimistic about.

Hopefully, the positives begin to turn into winning results. Then the discouraging part of the season will begin to fade.
