Glentoran confirm star player Hrvoje Plum's season is over after damaging ACL in recent Larne defeat

Glentoran have been dealt a massive blow with the news midfield general Hrvoje Plum has suffered a cruciate knee injury.

The talented Croatian, who joined the Oval club in the summer, has scored 13 goals in all competitions and been a key player for Mick McDermott.

The 25-year-old playmaker and free-kick specialist sustained the injury in last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Larne at Inver Park.

And tonight the East Belfast club confirmed Glentoran’s worst fears.

A statement read: “Glentoran can tonight confirm the extent of Hrvoje Plum’s injury sustained against Larne.

“Hrvoje has a cruciate tear and is estimated to be out for six to seven months. We wish the best and a speedy recovery for our Croation midfielder.”

It’s a horrible setback for the player and an in-form Glentoran side who lie top of the Danske Bank Premiership.
