Glentoran boss Mick McDermott feels for fans who will miss out on Irish Cup final

Glentoran boss Mick McDermott admits a lot of supporters will be 'gutted' to miss out on attending Friday's Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup final.

The Glens and Ballymena United have both been allocated 250 tickets for the blue riband decider at Windsor Park.

Glentoran confirmed yesterday that all 250 tickets presented to the East Belfast club will be free of charge to those allocated one through a ballot.

“When the players and their families and people involved in the club receive their allocation, there aren’t many tickets left,” he said.

“There will be people who have stood on the terraces for 40 years who will miss out, but hopefully nobody holds it against us.

“People will be disappointed, but I too will be disappointed. My family won’t all be there to watch the final, but it is what it is.

“It would be nice if the IFA could work something out with the Executive to get more fans in and I would have thought it’s reasonable when you look at the size of the venue.

“But I’m just pleased to be in the final. It was a good game against a talented Cliftonville side, so it’s pleasing to get over that hurdle.”
