Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Glenn Hoddle believes Spurs need to invest in a new goalkeeper during this summer's transfer window, amid Hugo Lloris' faltering form.
The Frenchman, who has been on Spurs' books since 2012, has come in for no shortage of criticism in recent weeks following some questionable performances and decisions between the sticks.
The former Lyon man was blasted for his decision to parry the ball straight into the path of Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold during last month's 3-1 defeat to the Reds at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, enabling the England international to double Liverpool's lead, following Roberto Firmino's opener.
Lloris has since been criticised for failing to hold onto Dominic Calvert-Lewin's fierce effort in last week's thrilling 5-4 FA Cup defeat to Everton before coming under fire for his performance against Manchester City on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium.
With mistakes having crept into his game in recent weeks, Hoddle insists the Frenchman is facing a challenging period, but believes Spurs do not have a suitable candidate capable of challenging him for the No.1 spot in north London.
"He is having a poor time at the moment, you have got to say," admitted Hoddle, speaking on BT Sport. "The two goals we have analysed there [vs Manchester City], he was at fault.
"Here [vs Liverpool] he is at fault. That has got to go out for a corner. He is on the back-foot all the time. Here he just gets outdone for power [vs Everton]. He will be so disappointed that he has fallen backwards and it has gone straight through his hands.
"Now, that shows that the confidence levels are really low in the back-four. But, also, if your goalkeeper is playing how he is at the moment... his intent is to not come and get balls, he is actually wanting to get further to his line and I think he is struggling at this moment in time.
"They have got nobody else to go in there and say 'right, I am going to put you under pressure for your place.' I don't think he [Mourinho] trusts Joe Hart to play in the big games."
With Hoddle unconvinced that Lloris has a goalkeeper capable of competing with him, he believes it is a position that Mourinho should aim to strengthen when the next transfer window opens.
He added: "Possibly. I would be looking at it, without any shadow of a doubt, unless Lloris gets back to the form that he can. At this moment in time there is a little bit of a pattern developing."
Lloris, now at the age of 34, has started this evening's Europa League clash with Wolfsberger AC, racking up his 30th appearance of the season in all competitions.
During the group stages of the competition, the France international started just once - the shock 1-0 defeat to Royal Antwerp in Belgium.
