Glenavon reaping the rewards for keeping the faith says Gary Hamilton

Gary Hamilton says faith in his ability and that of his team convinced him things would turn at Glenavon.

The Lurgan Blues boss came in for criticism in certain quarters after a run of ten games without a win.

But just as Hamilton believed things have turned, and in some style as they made it three wins on the bounce thanks to Saturday's 2-0 victory over Coleraine.

"You always have to have faith in your ability and it's one thing I do," he said.

"If I didn't I wouldn't be here. I've also faith in my squad and players.

"Yes we did go through a difficult run, but so do a lot of teams.

"Unfortunately when we go through it it seems to be highlighted more.

"To be here 11 years and for that to be the first time it's highlighted I must be doing OK and we must be doing something right.

"It's paper talk, one person writes something then it spreads through everywhere.

"Thankfully our players have gone out and proved him wrong over the last four weeks."

Hamilton was delighted with the impact of his substitutes on Saturday as Aaron Prendergast teed Matthew Fitzpatrick up for the equaliser before fellow sub Michael O'Connor bagged a late winner.

"Sometimes the subs work for you and sometimes it doesn't," he said.

"AP has scored some important goals and provided some important assists. It was another today with a great ball in for 'Fitzy', who provided a great finish.

"Michael is different quality and there's nobody else I would have wanted that ball to fall to in that position and time.

"He showed his composure and class to send the goalkeeper the wrong way.

"All in all it was a good afternoon and a good win for us."
