Glen Kamara set to sign new Rangers deal after Ibrox club offer bumper contract

Rangers star Glen Kamara is close to agreeing a new deal to keep him at Ibrox beyond his current contract.

The Finnish international has become a hugely influential player for Steven Gerrard and was key to the club’s first title success in a decade.

Kamara was a bargain £50,000 buy from Dundee in January 2019 and the 25-year-old is a player Gerrard has been to tie down.

The Euro 2020 star has been linked with a host of top clubs and getting him to commit his long term future at Ibrox would be a huge boost.

And the Athletic reports that the former Arsenal man is "moving closer to signing a new deal” with the club “offering an extension on improved terms”.

Speaking at the end of last year, Gerrard said: “In terms of Glen Kamara it is where it is. It’s pretty simple, it’s my job to advise when I think people deserve to be rewarded, it’s my job to advise when I predict there’s a lot of noise around a certain individual.

“I’m obviously trying to protect the club, the board, the team and everyone from a situation where we could lose one of our best players.

"Glen has been absolutely sensational since he’s come in. It’s not just about what you’ve got left on your contract, it’s about what you deserve, it’s about protecting yourself from the future, what could possibly happen.

“Glen is happy, he’s enjoying his football, he loves it here and he’s worked ever so hard, so for me it’s the right thing to do.”
