Glastonbury fans say 'it wasn't on our bingo card' as Rick Astley performs 'iconic' cover

Glastonbury fans were surprised when Rick Astley performed an 'iconic' cover at the festival, with many admitting it wasn't on their bingo cards for 2023.

The star made his Glastonbury debut, opening the Pyramid Stage on Saturday (June 24), and treated crowds to some of his chart-topping hits, as well as some new music. He also performed a cover of Harry Styles hit As It Was.

The 2022 chart-topper, from the album Harry's House, is best known for its middle-eight which sees live crowds scream the lyrics 'leave America'. Fans were delighted by the unexpected cover, with people branding it 'iconic.'

The 57-year-old had more covers up his sleeve for his performance, too. Rick showed off his drumming skills, this time with a rendition of AC/DC’s Highway To Hell.

Other songs featured in his set included Whenever You Need Somebody from 1987 as well as new song Dippin My Feet, from his upcoming ninth studio album titled Are We There Yet?, due for release in October.
