Glastonbury fans say 'bangers galore' as Elton John headlines Pyramid Stage

Glastonbury fans couldn't get enough as Elton John took to Pyramid Stage on Sunday night.

The 76-year-old hitmaker was closing the 2023 festival with a show that has been billed as the final UK gig of his farewell tour.

The superstar walked on to the stage in a gold suit before taking a seat at the piano as fireworks went off.

Sir Elton then opened his set with Pinball Wizard before dipping into his extensive back catalouge much to the delight of fans at home and at the festival who were loving 'banger after banger'.

After performing The Bitch Is Back, Sir Elton told the crowd: “I never thought I would ever play Glastonbury and here I am.

“It’s a very special and emotional night for me because it might be my last show ever in England, so I had better play well and I had better entertain you, you’ve been standing there so long and I really appreciate all the outfits and everything.”

He then launched into a rendition of Benny And The Jets.

Elton had promised fans an entirely new show that will feature four “special guests”. The superstar walked on to the stage in a gold suit before taking a seat at the piano as fireworks went off.

Earlier on Sunday there were performances from Lil Nas X, Blondie, Yusuf/Cat Stevens and Sophie Ellis-Bexter.

Headlining The Other Stage at the same time was Queens of the Stoneage, with Phoenix headlining Woodsies Stage.
