Glastonbury couples feel the love as they get engaged during epic Elton John gig

Two couples got engaged during Elton John's Glastonbury set when they felt the love last night.

The Rocket Man, 76, brought the house down with his greatest hits, prompting two grooms-to-be to pop the question.

Bobbi Hadgraft shared a gorgeous snap of herself snogging her beau at the festival as Elton performed to the sold-out crowd.

She captioned the snap: "Leaving Glastonbury with a fiancé.

"Brandon Flowers from The Killers came out a couple of songs after this and my head exploded. He is my favourite singer in the world and he was THERE! Couldn’t write it."

As her friend replied congratulating the bride-to-be, Bobbi responded: "Must be something in the air in Somerset mate haha."

And it seems she was right, as when Elton brought out The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers to duet on his 1971 hit Tiny Dancer, another couple got engaged.

Surrounded by revellers at Worthy Farm, one man got down on one knee and popped the question.

Happily, the moment was caught on camera and broadcast live around the world.

Fans flocked to Twitter after the proposal, which topped off one of the best nights at Glastonbury for years.

One said: "Anyone catch the proposal in the Elton John audience? It looked like she said Yes! BBC footage during Tiny Dancer. Beautiful moment. #Elton #Glastonbury #glastonbury2023."

Another asked: "Was that a proposal in the Elton crowd just then? #Glastonbury'; 'Oh god the proposal has sent me over the edge, getting a bit dusty in here #Elton #Glastonbury."

Elton wowed fans with a rousing rendition of his greatest hits, which included Rocket Man and Cold Heart.

Thanking the crowd for their years of support, he said, sporting a fabulous gold satin jacket: "You make me feel so happy. I want to thank you for 52 years of amazing love and loyalty that you have shown me.

"It’s be an immense journey. I have had the best time, I will never forget you. You are in my head, my heart, and my soul. You have been amazing, an incredible crowd tonight. Thank you so much Glastonbury, thank you so much England. I wish you so much health and happiness."

Prior to his set, Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis said Elton had been calling her out of the blue to discuss the finer points of his performance as the day got closer.

“It has been quite surreal," she shared. "Standing there in the farmhouse chatting to Elton while trying to get the kids ready for school, or whatever. But he’s been absolutely lovely.

“He’s been carving out a set that’s going to be completely unique to Glastonbury. I love his love for doing that. I don’t want to give anything away, but it’s going to be amazing."
