Glastonbury 2019: Incredible lineup announced for popular party area Shangri-La

Glastonbury 2019 is just around the corner and those lucky enough to get their hands on a ticket are counting down the days until their trip to Worthy Farm.

With the festival taking a break last year, there's been even more anticipation ahead of this year's spectacular than usual - boosted further by the addition of some brand new features, including a huge Victorian pier.

As is tradition, the lineup announcements are coming thick and fast now and we already know who's set to perform in the Fields of Avalon, dance area Silver Hayes and The Common, as well as the three Pyramid headliners.

And we now also know who's going to be playing in Shangri-La, affectionately known as the 'naughty corner' by Glasto veterans, which is loved for its diverse lineup - including dance music and heavy metal - and striking stages.

What to expect from penis puppetry show coming to Glastonbury Festival 2019

The area's main stage is the Truth Stage, formerly known as Hell, which has a feel of a dilapidated town centre square, while Shangri-La is also home to the Gas Tower, Clash and SHITV.

Alongside the musical stages there are plenty of art installations, political statements, hidden rooms and nooks and crannies where you can get up to all kinds of mischief.

Shangri-La 2019 lineup

This year's Shangri-La lineup, as usual, features a wide range of acts, including some of the most sought-after DJs around.

Kicking things off on Thursday evening on The Clash stage will be a takeover by Bristol label Boom Sound.

This is what happens to the animals on Worthy Farm while Glastonbury is on

The takeover will be headlined by The Nextmen and Gentleman's Dub Club going head-to-head featuring some emerging talent including Hollie Cook, Kiko Bun and Eva Lazarus.

They will be joined by the likes of party starters Jus Now and hip hop artist Dr Syntax.

Across the weekend the Truth Stage will also welcome a Keith Flint appreciation hour, Bristol favourites IDLES, heavy metal group Gojira and a Craig Charles Funk & Soul takeover.

The Gas Tower will welcome sets from major DJs including Bristol's Eats Everything, Bicep, My Nu Leng as well as a Hospitality Records takeover including S.P.Y, London Elektricity and Grafix.

Alongside the opening night Boom Sound takeover, Clash will also welcome the likes of Bryan Gee, DJ Q, Ed Solo and many more.
