Glasgow remains on flood alert following more rainfall on the city.

Although a Met Office warning for rain will no longer be in force as of noon today (Saturday), the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) advise much of West Central Scotland remains on flood alert.

Furthermore, with COP26 due to officially begin in the city on Sunday, Glasgow is set to be hit by more heavy rain.

Forecasters predict rainfall, much of which is expected to be heavy showers, from 8am until around 9pm tomorrow.

However, as it stands, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are set to be relatively dry days.

Amid the current yellow warning for rain, the Met Office say: "Heavy and disruptive rain will spread north across southwest and central Scotland during Saturday morning."

What to expect

  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer

Meanwhile, SEPA warn of potential traffic and travel disruption, advising: "Heavy rain is forecast to affect this area on Friday and again on Saturday. This could lead to flooding impacts from rivers and surface water.

"Potential impacts could include flooding of land and roads, disruption to travel and infrastructure, and flooding of properties".
