Glasgow street blocked off by police after man seriously assaulted by Barra's Market

A street just minutes away from the Barra's Market has been cordoned off by police following reports of a serious assault.

Emergency services were called to Bain Street at around 11.25am this morning and one man was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment, where his current condition is unknown.

One eye witness reported there being a "high police presence" in the area and told Glasgow Live that streets surrounding the Barra's Market had been cordoned off.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 11.25am on Wednesday, 30 November, to a report of an assault on Bain Street, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and a man has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University hospital for treatment.

“Officers are carrying out enquiries in the area to establish the full circumstances of what has happened.”
