Glasgow spinal injury patients enjoy a day out on the loch

Patients from the Spinal Injuries Unit at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde enjoyed a day out in the sunshine at Castle Semple Loch near Lochwhinnoch this week.

Supported by staff at the Spinal Injuries Unit and volunteers from the charity Spinal Injuries Scotland, patients enjoyed a range of activities both on water and on land. From sailing and hand-cycling to kayaking and crafts, the the group had a fantastic day in the sun, which was rounded off by a delicious barbecue.

The annual event gives wheelchair users a chance to take part in adventure sports and, though it had to be paused because of the pandemic, everyone involved was delighted that the fun could resume on Wednesday.

Patients got the chance to participate in some fun activities in the sunshine (Digby Brown Solicitors)

An NHS representative said: "We would like to thank Spinal Injuries Scotland for doing so much to arrange the event, and Digby Brown Solicitors for their support.

"We look forward to many more outings like these in future!"
