Glasgow has been revealed as the city in the UK with the joint highest number of drive-thru restaurants.
A total of 48 are to be found in the city - the same as in Manchester - according to a new study by Zuto Car Finance, which looked at the location data for seven of the most popular food chains across 63 cities to find out which had the most.
It comes as two new drive-thrus in Burger King and Starbucks get set to open next to Glasgow Harbour, as part of controversial plans which have seen over 40 trees cut down to accommodate the restaurants.
Meanwhile a new survey has also revealed that almost three quarters of Glaswegian drivers eat regularly in their vehicles (when parked up), with burgers, sandwiches and fish and chips being the most preferred food to eat in a car here in the city.

Asda Money report that 55 per cent of Glaswegians eat in their vehicle at least once a week and 16 per cent do this daily. Lunch is the most common meal to eat in a vehicle (35%) with most drivers most likely to choose takeaway food (48%).
When it comes to reasons for eating in their vehicle, most Glaswegians say that they do it for convenience (35% of those surveyed), as well as between travelling for work (29%) or for leisure (27%). Other reasons given were due to COVID-19 (14%), because it is cheaper than eating inside a restaurant (13%) or because their vehicle is their main place of work (11%).
Alistair Ball, Head of Insurance for Asda Money commented, “Eating in a vehicle is often a matter of convenience, especially when people are travelling for work or leisure. Interestingly, our research shows that many people are well prepared for this activity, bringing with them items to help them eat comfortably and clean up after themselves.”
“It might not be for everyone, or for every cuisine, but fast food and lunchtime sandwiches are meals which people regularly enjoy in their vehicle.”
