Glasgow priest's car windows and wing mirror smashed in shocking vandalism attack near church

A car belonging to a Glasgow priest has been targeted by mindless vandals while parked in a garage near his place of worship.

The shocking attack took place at St James the Great Parish Church in Crookston at around 9.40pm on Saturday night.

CCTV captured two or three ‘youths’ in the area at the time of the incident which saw the windscreen completely caved in, Glasgow Live reports.

The wing mirror of the silver Mercedes was also badly damaged with the cover smashed to pieces.

Police Scotland have confirmed that they are investigating the vandalism and that enquiries are ongoing.

A Facebook post from the church said: “Latest vandalism at St James the Great Church Beltrees Road priest’s car. Saturday night 2-3 youths.

“On possibly with light sleeves, maybe wearing a dark body warmer or similar. CCTV to follow. Keep safe.”

A police spokesperson added: “Officers were called at 11.30pm to reports of vandalism to silver Mercedes parked in a garage on Beltrees Road, Crookston.

"Enquiries are continuing."
