Glasgow M8 flooding - drivers warned to take care in city centre

Drivers are being warned to be careful this morning as flooding impacts the M8.

Heavy rain overnight has led to the issues around Junction 19 at Anderston, on the westbound side.

Traffic Scotland says there is no congestion as of yet, and vehicles are coping well so far, but have sent out a warning ahead of rush hour.

Earlier this morning, one of the lanes on the busy route was closed due to a deluge from Junction 18 (A82 Great Western Road) and Junction 19, but that's since been reopened

A lane was also blocked on the exit slip at Junction 19.

A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms is in place for Glasgow this Thursday (tomorrow) while the east of the country is preparing to be battered by downpours today.

The alert for the west is in place from midday until 9pm on Thursday, July 11, with the majority of Scotland and north of England also set to be battered by thunderstorms.
