Glasgow house covered in over 1000 Christmas lights in 5 day decoration operation

A house in Glasgow's south side has taken the 1st of December very seriously, and is literally dripping with Christmas lights.

Morena Devine said she started with the elaborate decorations on her Giffnock house just after she first bought it in 1997 - because she couldn't put a tree in the front window.

Now, over ten years later, her decorations have reached fantastic limits, with over 1000 lights, snowmen and reindeers.

Morena told Glasgow Live: "I wanted to show that we were celebrating Christmas. It started with very little and it’s grown over the years and seems to get bigger every year.

"It can take between 5-7 days to set up and I have been so lucky to always had help from a local handyman."

Morena, who volunteers with Second Chances German Shepherd Rescue, has even put a collection box out to raise funds for the charity from those who take a jaunt to view the lights.

Morena said: "My own rescue dog Rocky passed away in February of this year, so that’s the charity.

"It’s nice to bring some happiness, especially this year."

It definitely is, and Morena's Giffnock Grotto gives off happiness in abundance!
