Glasgow granny, 78, zipslides across the Clyde

At 79 years young a Glasgow granny has set her sights on conquering the Clyde - by zipsliding across it!

Barbara Drummond shot across Glasgow's famous river last weekend to raise money for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland.

So far the thrill-seeking gran has raised over a whopping £750.

This adrenalin rushing challenge saw Barbara raised 155ft high in the Glasgow sky before stepping off into thin air and scooting 700ft across the River Clyde at speeds of around 40mph.

Barbara said: “I’m delighted to have made a difference to CHAS as it’s such a worthwhile charity! To know that some children won’t make it to adulthood is very upsetting and I know how important it is to make the time they have here full of lovely memories - I hope the money I raised will help to do that.”

Rachael McDonald, challenge events assistant at CHAS added: “Without people like Barbara taking on these challenges, we wouldn’t be able to provide the care and support that we do. The fundraising she has done is nothing short of incredible and the difference she has made is huge – thank you Barbara!”
