The father of one was a diehard Celtic fan and his fellow supporters led a round of applause in tribute to him during the 28th minute of their 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk at Celtic Park on Tuesday night.

Those close to Mick released green, white and orange balloons and let off fireworks in his memory at a park last Thursday.

Dylan Paris said: “It was a privilege to call you a friend Mick Beaton. One of the best souls I ever met. Never forget all the good memories I have with you, miss you always.”

Dylan Gauley said: “No words can describe the kind of person you were. Mick Beaton, fly high brother.”

James Hosie wrote: “Sat waiting up on Mick Beaton texting me all yesterday to bam me up on the Rangers score, just miss the bamming each other up constantly about the football. Was only last week you ripped through me for that 7-1. Well I know for sure he will be up there laughing at me the now for putting this up, but it’s the small things that mean a lot. Love you brother and fly high.”

Ryan Anderson said: "I knew Mick Beaton from Ibiza always had a smile on his face, up for a laugh and a gentleman. Only bumped into him few weeks ago in Glasgow at Swedish House Mafia. Another reminder that life’s too short be mindful as you never know the last time you will see someone. Thoughts go out to all Mick’s close family and friends RIP."

Conor Mcdowall added: “Rest easy brother, will miss you forever.”
