Glasgow drivers warned of delays as crane dismantling sparks city centre road closure

Glasgow drivers are being warned to expect delays due to a city centre street closure this weekend.

Bothwell Street is closed off to traffic from Pitt Street to Douglas Street until 6am on Monday (March 14).

Glasgow City Council's traffic management department (TRAFFCOM) have confirmed that the closure is necessary in order to facilitate the dismantling of a tower crane on Bothwell Street.

They are advising of delays as a result.

Diversions are in place on Pitt Street, West George Street, Blythswood Square and Blythswood Street.

A TRAFFCOM alert advising of the closure reads: "In order to facilitate the dismantling of a tower crane on Bothwell Street, it will be necessary to close Bothwell Street, from Pitt Street to Douglas Street.

"Works will commence at 22:00 hours on Friday 11th March 2022 until 06:00hours on Monday 14th March 2022.

"Delays can be expected."
