Glasgow driver stabbed while checking his car tyre pressure in unprovoked attack

A man is in a serious condition after he was stabbed in the back while checking on his tyre pressures on his car in an unprovoked daylight attack in Glasgow .

Emergency services rushed to Maryston Street, in Riddrie, at around 4.30pm on Sunday, October 13 after reports of the serious assault.

A 26-year-old man had just left his grey coloured VW Golf before he was approached from behind and suffered a stab wound to the back.

He was then rushed to hospital where he remains in a serious but table condition.

Police Scotland have launched an appeal for people to come forward with information that could help their investigation.

Detective Constable William Corindale at Shettleston Police Office said: "This appears to be a serious unprovoked attack.

“The attacker approached the victim from behind and at this stage we have no description at all to go on.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have been Maryston Street around 4.30pm yesterday to get in touch if they saw or heard anything which might help in this inquiry.

“I am also appealing for anyone who may have been driving on Maryston Street and had a dash-cam fitted to their vehicle, to get in touch if they think that anything might have been captured on their device.

“Callers can call police on the 101 number, and should quote the reference number 2757, October 13 Anyone who wants to pass on information and remain anonymous can do so through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
