Glasgow cops arrest man after finding 'cannabis stash' metres from sheriff court

Police in Glasgow have arrested a man after discovering a cannabis stash worth six figures just metres away from the city's sheriff court.

The 28-year-old was grabbed by cops who descended on the property in Carlton Place, on the southern edge of the River Clyde, shortly after 11am on Wednesday July 20. Officers carrying out the raid discovered a cannabis cultivation that they believe is worth around £120,000.

The Record understands the exact address where the cache was discovered is less than 200 metres from the front door of Glasgow Sheriff Court.

The 28-year-old man was expected to appear in the court today. Police confirmed a raid was carried out on the street on Wednesday.

A spokesperson said: “Officers have arrested and charged a 28-year-old man for drugs offences following the discovery of a cannabis cultivation within a property on Carlton Place in Glasgow around 11.10am on Wednesday, 20 July, 2022.

“The cultivation has an estimated street value of around £120,000.

"The man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, 21 July, 2022.”
