Glasgow Clydeside Expressway traffic at standstill after 'multi-vehicle' accident

Traffic is at a standstill on the Clydeside Expressway this evening due to a 'multi-vehicle' smash.

Reports have reached Glasgow Live of a crash involving '4 to 5 cars' on the Expressway in the Finnieston area past the SECC.

Glasgow City Council's traffic management department TRAFFCOM issued an alert around 10:40pm this evening confirming news of the accident.

They are warning drivers to find an alternative route.

Emergency services are currently in attendance.

The alert reads: "Due to an RTC the A814 Clydeside Expressway is blocked at Yorkhill overbridge 500 yards before the Finnieston Street offslip. Drivers are advised to use an alternative route.

"Emergency services are in attendance."

UPDATE: There is now one offside lane open eastbound.
