Glasgow Clyde Tunnel crash: Casualty cut from vehicle after car and lorry collide

A driver had to be cut from their car after crashing into a lorry near the Clyde Tunnel.

Emergency services rushed to Crow Road around 8.30am this morning after the collision.

Five fire engines attended the scene and had to cut a woman free from the vehicle before she was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

It's believed that the lorry driver was not injured in the crash.

One northbound lane at the scene remains closed with officers still in attendance.

Drivers have been told to avoid the area as queues are already forming.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We received the call at 8.27am regarding a crash involving a lorry and a car on Crow Road, Glasgow.

"One lane remains closed and officers are in attendance."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: "We were alerted at 8.31am on Friday, August 7 to reports of a road traffic collision in the Broomhill area of Glasgow.

"Operations Control mobilised five appliances to the scene at Balshagray Avenue, where firefighters used specialist cutting gear to help remove one casualty from their vehicle.

"The casualty was thereafter passed into the care of paramedics and taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

"Firefighters left the scene after working to make the area safe."
