Glasgow bus services disrupted after crash outside entrance to Buchanan Bus Station

Bus services in and out of Glasgow are disrupted this evening due to a road traffic collision which took place outside the entrance to Buchanan Street Bus station.

Traffic information site Inrix issued an alert about the crash, which left Cowcaddens Road partially blocked in both directions, around 4:45pm this afternoon.

This was confirmed by Stagecoach West Scotland, who tweeted: "Service update all services operating to or from Glasgow Buchanan Bus Stn may be subject to delay due to an RTA at entrance to Buchanan Bus Stn.

"We are sorry for any delays caused as a result."

Police have since confirmed to Glasgow Live that an elderly woman has been struck by a bus outside the station.

She is currently receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she is believed to be in a serious condition.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a bus colliding with an elderly woman at Buchanan Bus Station, Glasgow, around 3.45pm on Thursday, 7 October.

"Emergency services attended including the fire service and ambulance service. The woman has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and is believed to be in a serious condition. Enquiries are ongoing."
