Glasgow address searched by forensics after suspicious package found in Cambuslang

Forensic teams have searched a property in Carntyne in connection with a suspicious package found in Cambuslang.

Uniformed police, forensic teams, and specialist officers were in attendance at an address on Marfield Street on Wednesday with part of the area cordoned off during their investigations.

The activity is believed to be linked to the discovery of a suspicious package found on Mansion Court in Cambuslang on Tuesday night.

A major emergency response was triggered after the discovery was made around 9.20pm. Police cordoned off the area while bomb disposal experts made the item safe.

The package was then removed for examination while forensic teams remained on the street to carry out further investigations.

Police confirmed the activity in Carntyne was linked to their investigation into the incident in Cambuslang and that a man has been charged in connection.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.20pm on Tuesday, 15 November, officers were called to Mansion Court, Cambuslang, where a suspicious package was discovered.

“EOD attended and made the item safe before removing it for examination.

“A 42-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, 17 November.”
