Gisele Pelicot has called for ‘justice to do its work’ as the sentences of two teenage boys spared jail for the rape of two girls was referred to the Court of Appeal for review.

The two 15-year-olds were convicted of raping two girls in separate incidents in Fordingbridge, Hampshire, but were handed non-custodial sentences by a judge at Southampton Crown Court.

Asked what she would say to one of the victims, in an interview with Cathy Newman on Sky News, Ms Pelicot described the incident as ‘terrifying’ and spoke of the aftercare that must be provided, emphasising the importance of a strong support network.
