Girl seriously injured after being hit by car near college

An air ambulance landed near a college after a girl was knocked down by a car.

Police and paramedics were called to Milton Road in Widnes at around 12.40pm on Wednesday, June 1, to reports of a crash between a car and a pedestrian. The road was closed in both directions and a police cordon was put in place outside Riverside College.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said a girl was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury.
