A teenage girl has tragically died following a canoeing accident.
A rescue operation was launched after reports of a canoeist, 15, getting into trouble on the River Tweed near Kelso, Scottish Borders at around 3.30pm yesterday.
Emergency services raced to the scene, with helicopters also scrambled to help.
Crews were joined by the Borders Water Rescue Team but the girl's body was later recovered from the water, Police Scotland said.
The family has been informed an enquiries are ongoing to "establish the full circumstances of the incident", the force added.

DI Alistair Sellar said: "We were called around 3.30pm on Monday, 22 March 2021 to a report of a canoeist getting into difficulty on the River Tweed, south of Rutherford, near Kelso.
"Emergency services attended and a rescue operation was launched.
"A 15-year-old girl was recovered from the water a short time later.
"Her family are aware.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
According to Radio Borders News, two people had been canoeing on the river when they got into difficulty and one became stranded on a rock.
The part of the river where the incident happened is known to be challenging, locals have said.
The 97-mile River Tweed flows east across the Borders region in Scotland and in northern England.
The river is popular with anglers for its salmon and with canoeists for its beautiful scenery.
