Giorgos Giakoumakis post-Celtic goal streak as he makes it five in five starts for Atlanta United

Giorgos Giakoumakis continued his red-hot scoring streak for Atlanta United as he made it five goals in five starts.

The former Celtic striker is quickly establishing himself as a key man and real fans' favourite in the MLS after firing home a cut back from close-range to hand his side the lead against Chicago Fire after just 13 minutes in a dramatic showdown. The Greek hitman and his new side looked on course to pick up all three points but suffered a set back in the 90th minute with Kacper Przybylko levelling for the visitors.

However, Atlanta would be not be denied as they found a way to claim all three points with a 98th minute winner to spark wild scenes amongst the home support. The victory also keeps them on the tails at the top end of the Eastern Conference with both New England and Cincinatti just two points ahead at the summit after nine games so far this season.

Head coach Gonzalo Pineda said: "I felt we didn't have our best game. Probably we had one of the worst I've seen, especially on the ball.

"We never had rhythm on the ball. We never could really connect good sequences of passes. Possession, there were moments in the first half but certainly we lost the control for a big majority of the game. So I was frustrated with that."

Next up for Giakouamakis and Co is U.S Open Cup third round duty against Memphis 901 before they make the trip to face Nashville next weekend on league duty.
